A  REAL  TIME  SYNTHETIC  COMPUTATIONAL  GENERATIVE     SCULPTURE

FOR PLAYER PIANO &  DATA DRIVEN AUTOMATA

   

Data harvested from the works of Malthus & James Clerk Maxwell & Futures Markets

A precursor to this new work by Paul Higham was ‘Unhappy Dow Jones; A  Real Time Non Veridical Representation Of a Data Stream’ was shown at the Paris 1999 InterSculpt : 'Spectral Autotecture'  also harvests grains of data from digital streams mined from population in real time. From this data I generate a repertoire of matrices which I use to dimension all species of data as vectoral coordinates. ”Culled” meshes can be prototyped in the physical realm as sculptures or left in their evolving virtual state. In a performance work such as 'Spectral Autotecture' the Data driven model continually evolves, feeding back, mirroring as a Self-Organizing system thereby showing the flux & dynamics of data and societal transformations over time: fenestrating organicity, hysteresis, turbulence & noise within culture in Real Time. 

My works are synthetic computational works that deal with the commodification of information and dynamics of data itself.  'The Algorithms of Life : Form follows Function'   Paul Higham
